Matt Urmy, musician, teacher, and public speaker, brings a diverse, extensive career in the arts to role as CEO of groundbreaking mobile software company Artist Growth, LLC, co-founded by his friend and former bandmate Jonathan Sexton. Motivated by his artistic passion and a driving work ethic, Urmy is on a mission to enable independent artists and entrepreneurs to grow their business.
Born in New York City and raised in Tennessee, Urmy has achieved acclaim for his work as a published poet, sought-after public speaker, and recording artist with three albums under his belt. Urmy has a Master of Fine Arts in Poetry and in addition to launching Artist Growth, is currently teaching creative writing at Nashville State Community College, developing his first Broadway musical, and working on a new album with the legendary Cowboy Jack Clement.
Gregg Mangiafico, now living in Nashville, has spent 20 years in the middle of the New York session and advertising scene. As a session keyboardist Gregg has recorded for diverse artists such as Michael Jackson, Billy Joel and Alice Cooper. As a composer for TV ads Gregg has won 2 CLIO awards and an AICP/MOMA Award for Ad Excellence, writing and producing for hundreds of clients such as JC Penney, Amex, Ford, Coke, Army and Chevy.
Born in Amarillo, TX, Jon moved to Nashville out of high school and attended Belmont University. A young song plugger named Jenny Gill opened the first door to a music career by signing Jon to a staff writing deal with ZMG music in 2008. In 2010, Jon signed with EMI nashville. In 2012 EMI and Sony ATV combined forces, and Jon Currently writes at Sony ATV Nashville.
Artists who have recorded Jon's songs include Dierks Bentley, Tim Mcgraw, Thompson Square, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, Jana Kramer, Jake Owen, David Nail, Raelynn, Lauren Alaina, Scotty Mccreary, Cadillac Three, Chris Young, JT Hodges, Drake White, Joe Nichols, The Invite, Brett Eldredge, Franklie Ballard, Dean Alexander, Sweethearts of the Rodeo, Rose Falcon, Mississippi Twilight and other rising artists.
Jon's song "Tip it on Back" was a radio hit for Dierks Bentley in 2013, and his song "Glass" was a critically acclaimed hit for Thompson Square in 2012. Jon had a European pop top 5 hit in Norway late 2012 with the song "Days that End with Why" with Hanne Sorvaag.
Jon's songs have been used extensively in film and TV. Jon wrote and produced the song "You Get What You Pay for" which was featured in the show "True Blood". Jon's song "Holding on and Letting Go" was the final song on CSI NY 2011. In 2012 "Holding on and Letting Go" was featured on Vampire Diaries. His song "American Beauty" was recorded by TBone Burnett for the NBC TV series "Nashville". His songs have been placed in other shows such as One Tree Hill, Heart of Dixie, Mob Wives, Army Wives, Grey's Anatomy, CSI, Late Night with David Letterman, Private Practice, Biggest Loser, and many others.
As an artist, he has opened for Trisha Yearwood, Restless Heart, Leroy Parnell, Randy Owen, Lee Brice, and many more. At 18, Jon sang vocals on a project that received Grammy and Dove nominations. His voice has been featured on numerous records and in feature films.

After a decade of success with his LA based talent agency, ENTERTAINMENT
ASSOCIATES, Bloch segued into publishing and founded SOUTHERN
MUSIC in 1991, moved his headquarters to Nashville in '93, and hasn't looked
back since. His boutique publishing company garnered cuts with Faith Hill,
Lee Ann Womack, Rebecca Lynn Howard, and Lee Greenwood. In addition he
secured cuts with Kenny Chesney, John Berry, Tracy Byrd and Lila McCann,
while independently pitching songs for Gary Burr, Tom Damphier, Greg Barnhill,
and Pat Bunch.
In the late 90's, he was hired by Doug Johnson, label head at GIANT RECORDS,
to do independent A&R for the label where he generated cuts for Clay Walker,
Keith Harling, and Blake Shelton.
In 2003, he co-founded WRITER ZONE MUSIC, LLC., a uniquely innovative
publishing company. Writers who came on board with a high level of past
measurable success (#1 songs) share equity in the company. Writer/Partners
include Thom Schuyler (“16th Ave.”/Lacy J. Dalton), Rand Bishop (“My List”/Toby
Keith) and Jon Robbin (“I Breathe In I Breathe Out”/Chris Cagle).
IN 2009, Steve went on to once again listen for songs for Doug Johnson, who
had become the Creative head of CURB RECORDS in 2003.
In early 2011, an official relationship between Steve Bloch and the innovative
multi-faceted entertainment company, ARTIST AND REPERTOIRE, LLC, was
designed. Steve oversees Publishing Relations for the company, strategically
schedules and promotes its writers and markets the rich, deep A&R song catalog
to the greater Nashville music community.
In October of 2011, Doug Johnson left Curb to become the creative head of
BLACK RIVER ENTERTAINMENT, and he has once again reached out to Steve
to assist him in finding the best material for his artists, including Craig Morgan,
Kellie Pickler, Sarah Darling, and Glen Templeton.
Steve is a frequent guest of the West Coast Songwriters Association, the
Durango Songwriters Expo, the Arizona Songwriters Association, TAXI, and
various SGA and NSAI events. He is a NSAI Pro-on-the Road, leads two
classes on line for SongU.com, and is the country music mentor for Middle
Tennessee State Univiersity’s acclaimed Writers Loft program. As Steve always

The Songwriting and Music Business June Conference is your chance to fully immerse yourself

Conference: In June, the Songwriting and Music Business community
converges on Nashville for a three-day intensive music business and songwriting event.
Location: The Hotel Preston is located on the corner of I-40 and Briley Parkway near
the Nashville International Airport. Selected because of its welcoming atmosphere and
staff, Hotel Preston is a quirky boutique hotel that has a reputation for supporting
songwriter events in style, without taking itself too seriously. It’s just the place for a

professional songwriters, publishers, film & TV, and A&R who will offer advice for improvement or placement
opportunities for your tunes. Be prepared with a CD or iPod and two lyric sheets for your evaluators.
Mini Q&A Sessions: Throughout the conference, we will have special 30 minute question and answer sessions
in breakout rooms with industry pros so that you can hear lots of points of view on the topics we’re discussing.
Classic hit songwriters, affiliated industry talks, and music business experts share their knowledge with us in these special breakout sessions.
Showcase: This is your chance to perform before a large group of peers, industry pros, music publishers, film and television

Thursday, Friday or Saturday night.
